An Arizona assistant prep football coach who reportedly leaked game plans to opponents has quit his positions as a teacher and coach at the school.

Justin Hager, a football assistant coach at Mountain Pointe dating to 2017, had been doing the act since being hired at the school in 2016 after guiding Yuma Cibola’s girls basketball program to 12 consecutive state playoff appearances.

The former high school basketball coach of the year only said he resigned to work elsewhere.

“Regarding MP (Mountain Pointe), I don’t have a comment,” Hager wrote via text message. “Excited for another challenge and moving forward.”

School officials were stunned and saddened by Hager’s actions, which were investigated after an opposing coach alerted Phoenix Mountain Pointe head football coach Rich Wellbrock of receiving the email.

The school then investigated emails and found that Hager used an alias to send hundreds of emails to opposing coaches to give them a competitive advantage against Mountain Pointe’s football team.

“Our entire campus is shocked at these findings,” Mountain Pointe principal Tomika Banks said in a release from the Tempe district. “It is the responsibility of all adults on a high school campus to act with integrity and to put students first in all we do.”
