President Donald Trumpâs former chief of staff and current special envoy to Northern Ireland Nick Mulvaney announced his resignation after yesterday’s attempted insurrection at the Capitol.
âI called Mike Pompeo last night to let him know I was resigning from that. I canât do it. I canât stay,â said Mulvaney.
Mulvaney intimated that other cabinet members were also considering resigning, but are fearful of what Trump may attempt to do if they leave.
“Those who choose to stay, and I have talked with some of them, are choosing to stay because they’re worried the president might put someone worse in,” said Mulvaney.
Before Mulvaney, Deputy National Security Adviser Matt Pottinger, First Lady Melania Trumpâs chief of staff Stephanie Grisham, and White House social secretary Rickie Niceta announced their resignation.
