Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Last Updated: February 11, 2026

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to opt-out of the “sale” or “sharing” of their personal information to third parties.

At NewsRum, we value your privacy. While we do not sell your email address or name to data brokers for money, we do use third-party advertising and analytics services that may be considered “sharing” or “selling” under California law.

1. How to Opt-Out of Tracking

If you wish to opt-out of the sharing of your information for cross-context behavioral advertising, you can do so through the following methods:

  • Cookie Settings: Click on the “Cookie Settings” or the small shield icon in the bottom corner of your screen. Toggle the “Advertising” or “Targeting” cookies to OFF.

  • Global Privacy Control (GPC): NewsRum is configured to recognize GPC signals. If you have enabled GPC in your browser settings, we will automatically treat that as a request to opt-out of the sale or sharing of your data.

  • Browser Opt-Outs: You can also use the DAA’s Opt-Out Tool to opt-out of interest-based advertising across multiple websites.

2. Manual Opt-Out Request

If you would like to submit a formal request to ensure your personal information is not sold or shared, please complete the following:

  • Email us at: [Insert Your Email Address]

  • Subject Line: CCPA Opt-Out Request

  • Required Info: Please provide your name and the email address associated with any newsletters or accounts you have with NewsRum so we can locate your record.

3. No Discrimination

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. Even if you opt-out, you will still be able to access all the news content on NewsRum.com, though the advertisements you see may be less relevant to your interests.

How to add this to NewsRum.com (WordPress Steps)

  1. Create the Page: Go to Pages > Add New in WordPress. Title it “Do Not Sell My Personal Information.”

  2. Add to Footer: This is the most important part. California law requires this link to be conspicuous.

    • Go to Appearance > Menus.

    • Add this new page to your Footer Menu.

    • Pro-Tip: Some plugins like Cookiebot or CookieYes provide a “Privacy Trigger” shortcode that you can place in the footer that automatically handles the opt-out popup for the user.

  3. Link in Privacy Policy: Make sure your main Privacy Policy also has a link pointing to this page.
