AI Standards & Editorial Ethics

At NewsRum, we embrace technology to deliver news faster and more efficiently. However, we believe that journalism requires a human touch. This page outlines how we utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our editorial process.

1. How We Use AI

We utilize advanced AI tools, including Google’s Gemini Pro and other large language models, to assist in our workflow. We use these tools for:

  • Data Aggregation: Rapidly summarizing complex reports, press releases, and data sets.

  • Formatting: converting raw information into readable formats (like Markdown) for better user experience.

  • Research: Identifying trending topics and sourcing historical context for stories.

2. The “Human in the Loop” Policy

While AI assists us, AI does not replace our editorial judgment.

  • Fact-Checking: Every article generated with the assistance of AI is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by a human editor before publication.

  • Source Verification: We strictly require that all claims be backed by credible external sources, which are hyperlinked within our articles.

  • No Automated Publishing: We do not use fully autonomous systems to publish content. A human editor pushes the “Publish” button every time.

3. Accuracy Disclaimer

AI models can occasionally produce hallucinations (factually incorrect information). While we strive for 100% accuracy through human review, readers are encouraged to verify critical information through the provided source links.

4. Ethical Use

We do not use AI to:

  • Generate misleading or “clickbait” information.

  • Create deepfakes or manipulated imagery intended to deceive.

  • Plagiarize content. We use AI to synthesize information, not to copy existing text word-for-word.
